Accordion shutter wheel replacement is an excellent way of extending the life of your shutter. The wheels are a heavy point of contact up inside the top track of the accordion shutters that bears a lot of weight and since it also is a moving part, there’s wear and tear. Added to all that is the fact that generally the salt in the air and the amount of rain we get can cause rusting and seizing up of the wheels — a primary part of the operation of the shutter in its track.
Accordion Shutters Stuck?
If your accordion shutters won’t open or close smoothly do not spray them with WD-40 or any oil lubricant. The way to get them unstuck is to clean your accordions and spray them with 100% silicone, and if that doesn’t work you will need accordion shutter wheel replacement. Maybe not all of the wheels will need replacement; we do try to help you out with some methods of getting them unstuck in justifiable cases, and that may involve some labor fees. Also, sometimes there are some wheels in the track that are still good and they do not need replacement, but the safety of your family or staff is more important than the cost of a few wheels and we are always cognizant of that in our evaluation. “Better safe than sorry.”
